Rude humour can take many forms. It can be gentle and fun or it can be more edgy and controversial and we’ve got all angles covered. More often in life, we follow social norms, are polite, and try not to offend. But in some relationships, we are able to discard the normal rules and give in to our inner sense of rudeness.
It’s complicated why we find ‘rude’ or ‘edgy’ humour so funny. Maybe it’s our sense of rebellion or the shock value of pushing the boundaries of what is considered acceptable; maybe it’s an outlet for tension and frustration or a way of bonding with like-minded friends. Often we are drawn to satire, irony, or sarcasm to expose the ridiculousness of society and the upside-down world we live in. This can be particularly true when the humour involves taboo or controversial subjects that are typically off-limits in polite conversation. Sometimes it’s just fun to not feel like you have to behave how you are expected to. Sending cards to your friends is the perfect forum to let yourself go and choose what makes you both laugh, with no judgment!
