What a thoroughly nice guy Martin Parr is. We had the pleasure of attending a talk at Cheltenham Literature Festival last night given by the UK's premier and much loved photographer. Martin Parr has always been a huge influence on our work and we are, in return, huge fans of his work. So when we were given the opportunity to say a quick hello after his talk, we brazenly seized it, clasping a greeting card image by Mr. Parr from our Exposure range in one hand, and a Sharpie in the other.

Martin Parr is the quintessentially British photographer, who expertly records moments which make him, (and consequently us), smile to himself when he sees them, thus documenting the foibles of, "the most fascinating species on the planet....people". His bodies of work convey a soft humour enabling us to laugh both with, and at, our silly selves.

Many of his collections feature the great British public on their holidays, these images can be garish, kitsch and sometimes beautifully ugly, capturing the excesses and vulgarities of modern life, in glorious saturated technicolor, with tongue firmly in cheek.

Martin Parr joined the esteemed Magnum Photos in 1994, has had solo exhibitions all over the world, has had many books published featuring his photographs, won countless awards and is also a renowned film maker. He has fully embraced and, indeed, encourages the use of modern technology and also, social media, (follow him here @martinparrstudio on Instagram), and now and then invites us to share an insight into his career via public speaking and interviews.

So, thank you very much Martin Parr, for taking the time for a quick chat and to sign our Exposure greeting card of your image. It's not often one gets to meet one's hero....especially when one is so awkwardly British about bothering them!
