Love it or loathe it, you have to admit Damien Hirst succeeds in getting people to talk about modern art.

This summer saw his major exhibition at the Tate Modern, and what a treat for the senses it was too. The stench of the flies/rotting cow head/fags/butterflies was pretty grim, the noise of hairdryer/fly zapper/fans was slightly off-putting, but the dazzle of the bling rooms was simply fabulous and gaudy, I loved it.

If you missed it, you missed seeing all those infamous works and although the various animals in formaldehyde look at bit sorry for themselves after all these years, it was still impressive to see them in the flesh (!). My favorite was "The Incomplete Truth", aka the dove suspended in formaldehyde, it was very beautiful and the way you could view it from all angles was a bit Matrix-esque...very cool.

So, you might call it macarbe, distasteful or sensationalist, I thought it was actally quite pretty.
